EpiCity Real Estate Services has a team of designers, remodelers and builders who allow its clients to transform their space to meet their needs. According to EpiCity President Tom Stokes, this was the case for Georgia Retina PC in EpiCity-managed office condominiums, Wall Street Conyers. Georgia Retina is one of the largest retina-only medical practices in the Southeastern United States, and its nine board-certified ophthalmologists offer world-class expertise in the treatment of diseases of the retina, macula and vitreous.
“As a vigorous and vibrant practice, they sought a location in east Atlanta to complement their existing locations,” Stokes says. “Wall Street Conyers offered the perfect mix of demographics, attractive and convenient location, and value and service that they require in their offices of 4,076 square feet.”
The office opened in Wall Street Conyers in early September. According to Georgia Retina CFO and Administrator Paul Lucas, they saw the Conyers market growing and wanted to expand into this area. “We want to be as conveniently located as possible to our patients and to also serve those who may not have been served before,” Lucas notes. “We like the fact that the management staff at Wall Street Conyers could design a specific layout to fit our needs, and the location also allows easy access to our patients, near I-20.”
Stokes’ team, which included Kyle Harrison of Scott Contracting, and designers, Helena Stokes and Dana Anderson, got to work on creating the perfect space for Georgia Retina’s ninth office.
“We created a space plan and the documents from which to build the space, and went over every detail with the staff at Georgia Retina,” Anderson says. “We went through the drawings of the spaces from the other locations and they shared with us what was working and also the flaws in the other office spaces.”
Anderson visited several Georgia Retina offices before completing the final documents. The goal was to make the space more functional. The previous space at Wall Street Conyers was a standard office environment with open cubicles.
“We basically gutted the space and built the space to meet Georgia Retina’s needs, updating the area and making the restrooms ADA compliant,” Anderson adds. “The flow was important—the distance people have to walk to the exam rooms, two waiting areas, the entry way, and even where cabinets were hung and keeping in mind where the doctors sit with patients. Dimmer lighting in some areas was important, too.”
According to Anderson it was a pleasure to work with Georgia Retina. “They had done a lot of research and homework on what they did and didn’t want.”
