Bamboo floor manufacturer Smith & Fong Co. announces it will honor its standard warranty on all projects where Plyboo bamboo or Durapalm palm flooring was used in conjunction with a Warmboard radiant system.
This agreement is noteworthy, as many hardwood and bamboo flooring manufacturers will not honor their warranties when used with radiant floor heating systems.
“We have studied the Warmboard system and have spoken with the company’s technical team on many occasions. They have a product that is well supported and we are confident in honoring our standard flooring warranty for use with their system,” Smith & Fong founder Dan Smith said. “Our Plyboo flooring products, whether Stiletto, standard bamboo or even our Durapalm flooring, naturally expand and contract with variations in relative humidity, and are not adversely affected by a radiant floor heating system like Warmboard.”
“Warmboard has been manufacturing radiant floor heating panels for more than 15 years,” Warmboard technical services manager Paul Izenstark said. “Bundling Plyboo with our Warmboard system is a great fit because Smith & Fong understands the radiant system and how it interacts with a bio-based flooring product.”
Founded in 1989 and headquartered in San Francisco, Smith & Fong Co. was the first U.S. company to manufacture bamboo flooring for sale in North America, offering its initial product under the brand name Plyboo in 1993. In 1996 the firm began producing bamboo plywood, followed by coconut palm flooring and plywood products in 2000. Today, the company’s products are distributed and sold throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Smith & Fong is committed to sustainability through innovation.
