Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson, introduced an addition to its surge protection product family—the Transient Detection System. This product combines the industry’s surge protection technology with a web-based power quality monitor. The system protects and monitors critical power applications.
The Emerson Transient Detection System allows users to monitor and track system anomalies such as transients, surges, swells, VTHDs, and features multiple alarm thresholds, including nine preset triggered alarm conditions and the capability for user-modified thresholds. Additionally, the product’s monitor measures and records the magnitude and duration of transient events, then dates and time stamps the data for detailed event logging. A multi-port serial and Ethernet connection, and an embedded Web page enable remote or on-site access of all information 24/7.
Surge events can put a facility at risk; understanding the severity, type, and timing of an abnormal power quality event enables users to better analyze trends and more effectively manage a facility’s power quality health.
