Trane, a global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, has announced the launch of Mobile TOPSS. The Trane Official Product Selection System (TOPSS) is a Web-based tool that helps architects, contractors and engineers determine which Trane system best suits the needs of new construction, renovation and retrofit projects.
Historically, TOPSS was a software program that customers, engineers and architects downloaded and installed on their local desktop workstations. This model became impractical with the emergence of the mobile workplace paradigm, and Mobile TOPSS was developed to support the customer need for system access from any work space on any desktop, laptop or mobile device.
“Trane is committed to providing new and innovative tools to help customers be more productive in the office or at the job site,” says Brad Goetz, director of Trane sales tools. “The TOPSS website automatically updates current product data, which eliminates the need for customers to download software and updates, and prevents compatibility issues inherent to desktop apps. TOPSS puts the most up-to-date information at customers’ fingertips, helping them select the best systems for their applications.”
After reviewing customer feedback and evaluating every aspect of the system, the software was completely redesigned with a focus on usability and convenience. Mobile TOPSS was developed with a mobile responsive framework, enabling the site to automatically conform to the browser and screen size on any computer or tablet that supports HTML5. The user interface was redesigned to emphasize important system functions and provide a user-friendly experience.
Additional usability features include dynamic adaption, which automatically adjusts based on user inputs ensuring relevant product results are displayed. Other features include color coded progression indicators and navigation cues to guide users through the selection process.
