Allegion Staff Members Appointed to NIBS Building Information Management Council

Allegion US, a global provider of security products and solutions, has announced the appointment of two Allegion colleagues—Shawn Foster and Brad Brown—to serve on the Building Information Management (BIM) Council within the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). These appointees will use their knowledge of the industry and digitalization of building projects to push forward the continuing movement within the building industry to a BIM-based workflow.

Shawn Foster, director of business development and customer success for the Digital Business group has been appointed Member-At-Large on the BIM Council Board of Direction. In this role, Shawn will champion the Council’s mission to industry and potential sponsors, provide input to strategic direction and assist with prioritizing programs and activities, and develop programs and projects that meet the business objectives of sponsors and members. Foster has been in the Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry for over 30 years, focusing on the commercial, federal and industrial markets to implement technology to solve project delivery challenges.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of the Board of Direction and help shape how building projects will be executed over the coming years. I’m looking forward to working with the Board and thank the Chair (Rachel Riopel, AIA, digital practice leader, HDR Inc.) for the appointment,” says Foster.

Brad Brown, Overtur customer success manager for architects has joined the Core BIM Requirements Workgroup within the National BIM Standard-United States (NBIMS) Planning Committee. In this role, Brown will provide his 18 years of expertise to define the scope and content for minimum core BIM implementation on a project. He has served as a project architect and firmwide BIM director, focusing on projects in the healthcare, higher education and assisted living markets.

“I’m looking forward to working with such a fantastic group of individuals,” Brown says. “Much appreciation to our group’s Chair (Connor Christian, P.E.; senior product manager at Procore Technologies). It’s an honor to be a part of the Core BIM Working Group and share my experience to assist, form and document the US Core BIM Requirements.”

“Shawn and Brad bring a wealth of practical knowledge and experience to NIBS,” Jeff Lynn, vice president, Global Digital Business, says. “Along with helping drive evolution and efficiencies in construction and BIM, these appointments will provide an opportunity for us to better understand the future of building sciences and how digitalization can and will have a lasting impact on the overall experience.”
