ASTM International Launches Road Show Centro América

ASTM International has announced that it will host events, workshops, and high-level meetings in El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama during its Road Show Centro América, Sept. 11-15.

The Road Show will feature in-person education, outreach, and training focused on the growing use of ASTM International standards in the region. Activities will include industry workshops focused on construction and infrastructure standards as well as meetings with high-profile groups in San Salvador (Sept. 11), in San Jose (Sept. 12-13), and Panama City (Sept. 14-15). Speakers will include Cesar Constantino, director of business development for Separation Technologies LLC and ASTM International board member, and Alex Navarro, manager of international engineering for Advanced Drainage Systems Inc.

“ASTM International’s standards in concrete, cement, plastic pipes, and many other areas continue to support economic growth, innovation, and quality-of-life in Central America,” says ASTM director of external relations, James Olshefsky. “We look forward to putting a spotlight on our hundreds of members, dozens of partners, and thousands of standards used throughout the region.”

ASTM International has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the national standards bodies of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama, and many other Central American nations. These agreements encourage participation of technical experts worldwide in the standards development process while also broadening the global acceptance of ASTM International standards.

Over the past 16 years, ASTM International has signed 105 MOUs with national standards bodies of countries ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. As a result, its standards have been referenced more than 7,500 times outside the U.S. in laws, regulations, codes, and elsewhere. For more information on this program, visit here.
