Berner Names Its Top 2020 Reps

Berner International LLC, a U.S. manufacturer and innovator of air curtains, announced manufacturer representatives SRS Enterprises, Middletown, N.J., and S & J Equipment Co., Westfield, Ind., received the company’s “Rep of the Year–2020” in the buy/resell and commission reps categories, respectively.

Berner International named S & J Equipment Co. “Rep of the Year–2020” in the buy/resell and commission reps categories.

Berner International also honored two other manufacturer’s representative firms for outstanding 2020 sales achievements:

·       Silver Award Buy/Resell Rep—Buck Nye, principal, H.C. Nye Co. Inc., Harrisburg, Pa.

·        Bronze Award Buy/Resell Rep––Ed McMahon, principal, Liberty Electric Sales, Syracuse, N.Y.

The 58-year-old S & J, which covers central Indiana and eastern Illinois territories, is one of Berner’s oldest rep relationships at 52 years in 2021, according to Steve Smith, principal. One large project was the Indiana University Health’s new 735,000-square-foot, $570-million Regional and Academic Health Center in Bloomington. S & J sold nine architectural recessed (ARD-12) air curtains ranging from 4 to 8-feet-wide with onboard hot water coils at entrance doors for energy savings and occupant comfort. The IU project also specified five industrial direct drive (IDC-12) air curtains ranging from 9 to 12-foot-wide for receiving/shipping doors.

Another project, Lawrence North High School, Indianapolis, featured Architectural Recessed 12 units with hot water from the school’s central plant for comfort heating at 10 entrance doors during a facility retrofit. An interesting project is the temporary Fishers, Ind.-based Covid Center, a tunnel-shaped structure with IDC-12 direct drive, electric heated air curtains on the entrance and exit.

“Steve Smith with S & J Equipment is an experienced and long-time Berner advocate,” says Berner’s National Sales Manager Michael Coscarelli. “Consequently, S & J is one of our top three rep agencies every year.”

SRS Enterprises, which has won the top award six years in a row, designed multiple projects, according to Charles Cino, sales rep, SRS Enterprises.

“Managing and selling through a crisis is not new to SRS, which wasted no time in adapting to COVID-19’s sudden lifestyle shift and making the necessary marketplace communication adaptation,” said Stephen Benes, a Berner sales manager. “I’m blessed to work closely with a firm that makes the commitment to be the best and doesn’t wait for inspiration to prosper, regardless of market conditions.”
