Butler Manufacturing has installed 2.1 billion square feet of its MR-24 roofing system worldwide—enough to cover 259,259 baseball fields or the cities of Lincoln, Neb.; Savannah, Ga.; and Des Moines, Iowa, combined. The company reached this milestone in early 2013.
“This landmark is a testament to the unmatched protection provided by the MR-24 roof system,” says Tom Gilligan, president, Butler Manufacturing. “Through the expertise of our Butler Builder dealers, the MR-24 roof system has become the most specified standing-seam roof on the market.”
Butler offers a roof for every building design—from low-slope and complex roof geometries to new construction to roof retrofits and reroofs. Its line of total roof solutions is anchored by the MR-24 roof system.
“Although a roof system can be one of the most expensive components of a building, it is a critical investment to protect a building’s structure,” says Rodger Russ, North American sales manager, roof division, Butler Manufacturing. “The MR-24 roof system is virtually maintenance-free, with in-place performance surpassing 40 years.”
Introduced in 1969, the MR-24 roof system is the industry’s first standing-seam roof system. Its precision-engineered design sets it apart from the competition today, with features including:
- Durability and longevity: The MR-24 roof system is tested in-house and independently in accordance with the most demanding, recognized specifications in the industry. It offers the tightest seam available on the market, a 360-degree Pittsburgh double-lock seam and the Butler-Cote fluoropolymer finish system that is highly resistant to chalking, fading and chipping.
- Designed for roof retrofits and reroofs: Roof retrofits and reroofs are outpacing new construction projects in the roofing market. The MR-24 roof system can cover most types of existing roof material, including single-ply, foam and modified bitumen, and integrate seamlessly into the aesthetics of existing facilities.
- Sustainability and energy efficiency: Sustainability starts with steel, the primary material used to manufacture the MR-24 roof system. Steel is 100 percent recyclable and renewable. The MR-24 roof system also serves as a platform for alternative energy systems and accommodates the SunLite Strip and RetroLite daylighting systems.
Through the Butler Builder network of more than 1,400 construction professionals worldwide, Butler provides roof solutions tailored to meet individual needs through a single-source responsibility for every phase of the project. With extensive training, Butler Builders understand how the MR-24 roof system impacts local requirements, codes and other factors, ensuring the long-term performance and protection of both the roof solution and the building itself.
