DRI-STEEM’s Humidification System Was Selected as a CSE Product of the Year Finalist

DRI-STEEM Corp.’s (DriSteem) Low-maintenance Humidification System, which significantly extends intervals between humidifier maintenance, was selected as a finalist in the Consulting Specifying Engineer magazine (CSE) 2016 Product of the Year competition showcasing practical innovation.

DriSteem’s Low-maintenance Humidification System was chosen as one of five finalists in the Air Movement and Humidification category by a panel of professional consulting engineer judges who regularly design and specify HVAC, electrical, fire protection and plumbing systems. CSE subscribers are casting their votes now and the winners will be announced Sept. 15, 2016.

The DriSteem Low-maintenance Humidification System combines two proven DriSteem products—the Vapormist electric humidifier and the 200 Series reverse-osmosis water treatment system—in a single package, working together to provide near-zero maintenance steam humidification for indoor environments. This fully integrated system has single point power and water supply connections and integrated drain water tempering. Since the system is completely unified, it can be specified simply as a humidification system—no need to alter plumbing or electrical sections of the project spec.

The reverse-osmosis system component of the Low-maintenance Humidification System removes more than 98 percent of dissolved solids from supply water, providing high-purity water to the humidifier. This prevents chalky scale buildup from overtaking the humidifier’s water tank. By eliminating this build-up, the system ensures the highest humidifier performance and greatest efficiency. Intervals between humidifier maintenance are extended by 10 times or more, cutting service costs and virtually eliminating humidifier downtime.

“The DriSteem Low-maintenance Humidification System is the only fully integrated humidification and water treatment system available,” says DriSteem Product Manager Steve Felber. “This near-zero maintenance system will significantly reduce the lifetime humidifier tank maintenance burden and cost especially where frequency and complexity of humidification system maintenance are a big concern. Since this system ships completely piped and wired, connection and compatibility headaches are eliminated.”

The entire Low-maintenance Humidification System is controlled by a single user interface. The Vapor-logic controller features an interactive keypad and is designed to operate independently or through a building automation system. Setup, view and adjust the humidification and water treatment functions at the unit or through the building automation system. Automatic notification of messages and alarms announce when it’s time to service or replace system components.
