Evaporative Humidifier Is Designed for Homes Heated with Ductless Systems

Aprilaire, a provider of professional-grade indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions and systems, has introduced the Model 300 residential humidifier, a self-contained, whole-home, fan-powered evaporative humidifier for homes heated with boilers, mini-splits, radiant heat, and other ductless systems, although it can also be installed in homes with forced air where limited space is available for installation.

Aprilaire has introduced the Model 300 residential humidifier, a self-contained, whole-home, fan-powered evaporative humidifier for homes heated with boilers, mini-splits, radiant heat, and other ductless systems.

The new unit features 30 percent more capacity than the Model 350, Aprilaire’s previous generation humidifier, Quiet Fan Technology, and an extended dry-time fan. This self-contained evaporative humidifier draws air through an evaporative water panel and the unit puts out 13 gallons per day, achieving heat for evaporation using 120 F water and room temperature air.

The Model 300 is for homes up to 3,500 square feet (tight construction) and can be easily installed by joist- or wall-mounting in a basement, utility closet, laundry room, or crawl space with access to water. It is hard or flexible duct compatible with output via floor or baseboard grills and features a quick water panel replacement at the bottom of the unit. At about 14 by 12 by 22 inches, the unit is compact, weighs less than 30 pounds, and includes Aprilaire’s Model 65 digital humidistat.

Proper humidity levels in a home offer a three-fold benefit. Health is improved by minimizing bacteria, viruses, fungi and dust mites which thrive in unbalanced humidity and can cause allergy and asthma symptoms. The home is more comfortable, and homeowners reduce energy costs since furnaces operate more efficiently in balanced humidity. Finally, proper humidification can protect a home’s wood floors, cabinetry, instruments, and other furnishings and prevent warping and cracking.

The launch of Aprilaire’s Model 300 marks the most recent professional-grade product introduction in the company’s nearly 70 years of innovation. Previously, in June, the company unveiled its e-series line of dehumidifiers, for residential moisture control at the other end of the spectrum. Professional installation is recommended and Aprilaire works with tens of thousands of professional contractor partners in North America.
