Griese To Serve Three-Year Term on the ASTM International Board of Directors

Bill Griese, director of standards development and sustainability initiatives for the Tile Council of North America in Anderson, S.C., will serve a three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors.

The Tile Council of North America is an international trade association involved with standards development, product testing, and research. They also represent North American ceramic tile and allied product manufacturers in regulatory, legislative, trade, and environmental matters.

Griese holds a bachelor’s degree in ceramic and materials engineering from Clemson University. Griese began working at the Tile Council in 2008 and assumed his current role in 2015.

A member of ASTM International since 2007, Griese is the current chairman of the Committee on Technical Committee Operations. He is a member of the committee on ceramic whitewares and related products (C21), having served three consecutive terms as chairman. He is also a member of the committees on sustainability (E60) and manufactured masonry units (C15). In 2013 he received the J.A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award.

In addition to ASTM International, Griese is a member of the American National Standards Institute and the International Organization for Standardization. He is a U.S. delegate to the World Ceramic Tiles Forum.
