Woven metal mesh is included in the convention center’s 2020 modernization. The stainless-steel fabric provides a protective barrier on the new entry stairway while adding an appealing reflective aesthetic to the sunlit lobby.
Cambridge Architectural’s Scale mesh with 59 percent open area also was selected for interior accents during the center’s 2008 ballroom expansion, according to Cecil Ricks, president and director of Architecture and Interior Design for Matrix. “Now and back then, we liked the scale and the openness of the mesh pattern and how, despite being very open, it reflected enough light to create a nice exciting sparkle as you entered the lobby,” he explains.
Eclipsed tensioned hardware was angled at the top and used to attach the infill mesh to the stair frame by Oklahoma Stair Craft.
