Show us your worst and how you made it your best. That’s how HPS Schönox formally launched its second annual Worst Subfloor in North America Contest with its announcement going out to the flooring industry opening participation in the contest. “We want to see the brittle, crumbling, cracked, unstable, rough, uneven, damaged subfloors faced by flooring professionals in the field and how they met those challenges to produce smooth, sound subfloors ready for the highest quality flooring installations,” explains Thomas Trissl, HPS Schönox principal. The contest is open to flooring companies to show the tough subfloors they encounter, how they renovated them using Schönox products, and to provide them with much deserved recognition.
The contest entries will be independently judged with first, second and third place winners based on the severity of the original subfloor’s condition, the skill and attention to detail taken in executing the project, and the quality of the finished subfloor. The judges for the contest will be announced on June 15.
Those entering the contest are asked to photograph the subfloor conditions before and after the subfloor renovation project and submit the photos, along with some project information, on the Worst Subfloor contest Web page where all of the contest details can be found.
The contest runs through Dec. 11 with winners to be announced at TISE (Surfaces) in 2016. “This year not only will winning flooring companies receive Schönox Dollars that they can use to purchase products, the installers who completed the winning projects will also receive prizes,” explains Doug Young, HPS executive vice president. “The contest is a great opportunity to shine a light on the hard work flooring professionals do each day tackling tough subfloor conditions.”
