Johns Manville Industrial Insulation Group will be hosting a live webinar to review the test results in a recent corrosion under insulation study. To meet the need for real-world corrosion under insulation (CUI) testing, Johns Manville expanded its research to include a comparison of the performance of calcium silicate and expanded perlite insulations under accelerated corrosion conditions.
The live webinar, CUI Test Results – Understanding the Corrosive Mechanism, will be presented on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 2:00 pm ET and will be co-hosted by Innovation & Technology Group Leader, Ames Kulprathipanja, Ph.D., and Sr. Metallurgist, Juan Carlos Madeni, Ph.D., from Johns Manville.
Johns Manville will discuss how calcium silicate and expanded perlite compared to the control material, silica aerogel blanket sample, review the testing protocols, the average pipe wall-loss for all three materials, and the role corrosion inhibitors play in protecting the pipe surface.
The webinar will address the following topics:
- Introduction to the NACE TG 516 Test Protocol
- Results from the latest testing on calcium silicate and expanded perlite
- Corrosion inhibitor mechanisms & how they work
- Differences in carbon steels
- How alloys vary and how they can impact your system
- How corrosion impacts varying metal substrates
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a live Q&A at the end of the presentation and may submit questions directly to the presenters.
This webinar is intended to provide designers, specifiers and engineers of industrial insulation systems with research regarding corrosion under insulation and corrosion inhibitors.
All webinar attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion that may be submitted for Professional Development Hour Credits. All attendees must register in advance.
