Long-life Alternative for Compact Fluorescent, Metal Halide and Halogen Sources

OSRAM SYLVANIA launched the OSRAM RLD6.

OSRAM SYLVANIA launched the OSRAM RLD6, a 6-inch LED architectural downlight which boasts high performance and provides a long-life alternative for compact fluorescent, halogen and metal halide sources with aesthetically pleasing light quality powered by OSRAM LED technology. The RLD6 unique glare-free optical system is comprised of a highly reflective upper reflector inside the mixing chamber that controls beam shaping and light distribution. The lower reflector provides deep lamp-to-lamp image cutoff of 46 degrees and an aesthetically pleasing light quality. Assembled in the United States, this system combines to create a highly efficient luminaire that produces low aperture brightness for comfortable light and a near ‘silent’ ceiling, delivering exceptional beam uniformity and cut- off in standard downlight, wall wash and adjustable accent versions.

The new OSRAM LED downlight, in addition to other innovative lighting technologies from OSRAM SYLVANIA, will be shown at Booth #3108 at LFI 2014, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference. LFI 2014 is sponsored by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). OSRAM SYLVANIA has been supporting LFI since its inception 25 years ago, bringing fully integrated lighting products and services that take lighting designers, end users, luminaire manufacturers and service providers beyond the boundaries of conventional lighting.

The RLD6 downlights for 120V-277VAC operation incorporate OSRAM PrevaLED Core light engines providing color consistency within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse and OSRAM OPTOTRONIC power supplies with built-in 0-10VDC protocol for continuous dimming down to 1%. The luminaire is highly efficient with typical efficacies of up to 79 lumens per watt, one of the best in the industry, and has a life rating of 50,000 hours (L70). The 1200 lumen (18W) downlight provides performance similar to 1x32W, 1x42W or 2x26W compact fluorescent downlights, and the 2000 lumen (30W) downlight provides performance similar to 2X32W compact fluorescent or 1x70W metal halide downlights, ideal for higher ceiling applications providing energy savings up to 65%.

RLD6 downlights are available in 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K CCT packages and four standard trim finishes, and are covered by the standard OSRAM five-year luminaire warranty. They are environmentally preferable, RoHS-compliant and designed to meet ENERGY STAR® qualifications for utility incentives. The wall wash model is designed to deliver uniform illumination at high wall angles using a special lens design. The adjustable accent model has full rotation and tilt for a wide aiming range.
