Moen Inc. has joined forces with Neighborhood Housing Services of San Antonio (NHS-SA), a private 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to build successful families and communities through housing opportunities. Serving San Antonio for 30 years, NHS-SA has built 300 new homes, rehabbed more than 100 existing homes and processed more than 1,200 loans totaling an estimated $12 million over the last 16 years.
For the past eight years Moen has been committed to supporting affordable housing for Latino families and our veterans through a program called Alcanzando Suenos con Moen (“Achieving Dreams with Moen”). Moen donates state-of-the-art and water-saving kitchen and bathroom fixtures to organizations such as NHS, which help to defray some of the rehab costs that can be used to support other services for the organization. Over a period of two years, Moen will provide NHS-SA energy-efficient fixtures for home remodels and new home reconstruction in the San Antonio area.
NHS-SA builds its homes to Build Green San Antonio standards, and always works to improve water and energy efficiencies in every home it rehabilitates. Oscar Medina, NHS-SA executive director says: “Our mission is to build successful families and communities through housing opportunities. In all of our home construction and rehabilitation, we install energy-efficient features and fixtures to ensure our customers are paying the lowest utility bills possible. Our partnership with Moen is a perfect fit, since they are also committed to these ideals.”
The Alcanzando Suenos con Moen program was launched by Moen Inc. in 2007 in partnership with the Hispanic Housing Development Corp., a major nonprofit builder of affordable homes in Chicago. Moen contributes several hundred thousand dollars worth of products annually to affordable housing projects serving predominantly Hispanic communities around the country. The program was expanded two years ago to include veteran organizations that provide affordable housing to vets and their families.
