Legrand has introduced two new Plugmold multi-outlet systems. One new unit offers convenient USB charging along with multiple outlets. The other provides integral GFCI protection to every outlet. Designed for commercial, institutional and residential applications, both new Wiremold systems feature tamper-resistant receptacles with a patented shutter system that prevents improper insertion of foreign objects.
USB charging is among the most in-demand features today as consumers look to do away with bulky AC adapters. The Plugmold multi-outlet system with USB charging combines the convenience of multiple outlets and USB charging to work or living spaces. This unit features a 2.4A USB type A receptacle with 2 USB ports that charges faster than other USB receptacles and is compatible with USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices.
Built-in GFCI protection is now available in a tamper-resistant Plugmold unit that is an easy way to add GFCI protection to multiple outlets without having to install multiple outlets. It provides GFCI protection for all outlets on the strip and all devices plugged into them. These units are ideal for residential kitchens with multiple small appliances, as well as laboratories.
Tamper-resistant receptacles meet 2011 National Electrical Code tamper-resistant requirements. Tamper-resistant receptacles feature built-in shutter systems that prevent foreign objects from touching electrically live components when they’re inserted into the slots. However, the shutters don’t impair normal plug insertion, removal or function. This feature also provides safety for multiuser facilities, residential living spaces and kitchens.
Designed to mount on wall surfaces, low profile Plugmold units are available in 3′, 5′ and 6′ lengths. Available colors include painted finishes of black, gray, ivory, and white, as well as anodized aluminum and stainless steel versions that integrate easily with any room decor. Custom options are also available.
