“Members of the National Electrical Contractors Association have been providing employer-sponsored healthcare to their employees for decades,” says NECA Chief Executive Officer David Long. “NECA has unequivocally supported H.R.748, ‘The Middle-Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019,’ which eliminates the burdensome Cadillac Tax. I am gratified by its passage today in the House and especially thankful for the work of Rep. Joe Courtney and Rep. Mike Kelly leading this effort. The Cadillac Tax threatened a system that already works well, ignoring demographic and geographic factors while taxing benefits that help keep employees healthy. Additionally, the tax created a chilling effect on business growth that was a sure job-killer. Today’s bipartisan effort means NECA members are one step closer to no longer being penalized for doing right by their employees. The Senate must act quickly and send this legislation to the White House.”
