The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published NEMA TS 4-2016 Hardware Standards for Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) with NTCIP Requirements, a standard for the transportation industry that provides users with dependable, functional, and maintained equipment.
“NEMA TS 4-2016 addresses full-color content to capitalize on currently available capabilities. It also harmonizes requirements with other industry standards, such as Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD),” according to NEMA DMS Technical Committee co-chairs, Mike Weinberg and Jason Morrison, Daktronics Inc.
In addition, NEMA TS 4-2016 modifies font specifications to harmonize with updated MUTCD criteria for display in a high-resolution device. For more information on MUTCD, click here.
NEMA TS 4-2016 is available in hard copy or as an electronic download on the NEMA website.
