The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published ANSI/NEMA WC 58/ICEA S-75-381-2017, “Portable and Power Feeder Cables for Use in Mines and Similar Applications”. Developed by the ANSI Committee for Insulated Wire and Cables, Excluding Magnet Wire, this standard applies to materials, construction and testing of insulated cables used for the distribution of electrical energy in surface and underground mines.
According to Mark Fuller, working group chairman and ICEA Member, and formerly at Nexans AmerCable, El Dorado, AR, revisions include:
- Remote control and drill cords
- Semi-conductive rubber shielded at the 2kV and 5kV rated voltages
- Type SHD-PC, a copper/textile braided shuttle car cable rated 2kV
