The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published NEMA CS 100-2020 NEMA Technical Position on Reconditioned Equipment. This guide provides the NEMA perspective on how to best recondition electrical equipment, determine whether a component or assembly is suitable for reconditioning, and the importance of taking necessary precautions when reconditioning equipment.
“NEMA supports reconditioning of some, but not all, electrical equipment. With the inclusion of reconditioned electrical equipment requirements in the 2020 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Technical Position on Reconditioned Equipment provides industry guidance for impacted manufacturers, electrical inspectors, installers, and the reconditioned equipment industry,” says Patrick Hughes, NEMA vice president of operations and strategy. “This publication provides timely information and guidance on reconditioning products manufactured by NEMA Members—including a list of equipment suitable for reconditioning—to improve safety, reliability, and performance.”
NEMA CS 100-2020 is available as an electronic download on the NEMA website.
