For the decade ending Dec. 31, 2019, members of the Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association (PIMA), who supply roofing and other building energy efficiency technologies, manufactured and shipped more than 54 billion board feet of polyiso insulation products. This amount of polyiso would rise more than 14.7 miles into the sky if installed to cover the area of one football field.
“The more than 54 billion board feet of polyiso reflects the resurgence of construction activity since 2010 and an ever-increasing demand for high R-value insulation products that meet today’s standard for energy-efficient buildings,” says Justin Koscher, president of PIMA. “Polyiso manufacturers are trusted partners and provide an energy-efficient solution built on decades of experience and continuous improvement.”
“According to PIMA estimates, more than 69 percent of the U.S. population now lives in cities and jurisdictions that have adopted modern energy codes,” states Greg Fantin, chair of PIMA’s Board of Directors and vice president of marketing at Rmax. “As the public’s awareness of energy codes and the cost savings improves, demand will grow for products like polyiso insulation that combine excellent thermal and fire performance with other desirable physical properties.”
Polyiso insulation provides a high R-value per inch, making it an ideal solution for the entire building envelope of commercial and residential buildings.
