PRESSALIT Care, a business area of Pressalit, a global manufacturer of specialty bathroom and kitchen solutions for physically challenged individuals, is hosting 60th anniversary celebrations in its principal market areas around the world. The company, founded in Ry, Denmark, in 1954, has grown from a regional manufacturer of molded toilet seats to a world leader in design and manufacture of not only toilet seats but also adjustable living solutions for the disabled.
The company’s first product was an innovative molded toilet seat made from a new type of material. The material was developed accidentally when a cat knocked over a glue pot in a carpenter shop. The glue dripped down the side of a hot radiator and onto a pile of sawdust lying on the floor of the shop. The carpenters soon discovered that the resulting mixture was strong, easily moldable, and quite durable. Their first products, molded toilet seats, were quickly accepted across Europe with the result that Pressalit soon became one of the Continent’s leading supplier of toilet seats. In the ensuing years, the company began to focus more and more on products designed to make life easier and more convenient for people with disabilities in the business area Pressalit Care. For example, they developed a unique track system that enables bathroom products such as shower seats, wash basins, change tables, grab bars, to be easily moved along a wall either horizontally or vertically. Today, Pressalit Care’s unique product line is recognized throughout the world for its high quality and broad functionality. As a leading global provider of bathroom and kitchen solutions for people with disabilities, the company has firmly cemented its reputation as a visionary pioneer.
“We at Pressalit Care are thankful for our long history and look forward to bringing our expertise and products to physically challenged and disabled people throughout the U.S. and Canada, helping them to live a better life,” said Gary Nowitz, president of North American operations.
