The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has published guidance and standards intended to mitigate the risk of infectious disease transmission in the built environment. Recommended strategies include MERV 13 (or better) central air filtration in a well-sealed system to limit air bypass, increased outdoor ventilation to dilute ventilation per person (depending on outdoor air quality), longer HVAC run times, and the addition of UVGI (ultraviolet germicidal irradiation) devices, among other things.
The Dynamic V8 Air Cleaning System provides MERV 15 performance without ionizing or Ozone generation, plus VOC reduction and superior capture of dangerous ultra-fine particles. It is constructed to eliminate air bypass, a critical issue for maximum performance. The Dynamic V8 Air Cleaning System has a MERV rating of MERV 13 or MERV 14 with power off.
The Dynamic V8 also enjoys a very low-pressure drop, which makes it suitable for retrofitting into HVAC systems that may not have been originally designed for high-efficiency air filtration. With traditional filters, as the MERV level increases, so does the need for larger fans and fan horsepower. Traditional high-efficiency filters with a high initial pressure drop may load with dust and particles very quickly, thus requiring frequent filter changes. In addition, filters with a high-pressure drop can also cause more air to bypass the filter if the HVAC system is not well-sealed. The low pressure drop inherent in the Dynamic V8 translates into fan energy savings of more than 2/3 compared to MERV 14 cartridge filters. This feature alone makes the Dynamic V8 Air Cleaning System the perfect candidate for your next ECM (Energy Conservation Measure).
Finally, the Dynamic V8 has the highest dust holding capacity of any air filter or air cleaning system on the market, holding up to 10 times the dust of standard cartridge and bag filters and up to 100 times the dust of shallow-bed passive filters. Fibers in the air cleaner filter media load 360 degrees around each fiber, rather than simply face loading. This high dust holding capacity translates into a long service life, extending filter change-out intervals from every few months to every several years.
The Dynamic V8 is available in several configurations, including V-Banks for large air-handling units and/or dedicated outdoor air systems, Slide-in V-Banks, for smaller rooftop applications where service access is limited, and Duct-Mounted Units for use with VRF and Fan Coil systems.
