Weather Shield Windows & Doors has expanded its architectural line, the Premium Series, of aluminum-clad wood windows and patio doors to include a distinctive push-out casement unit. The push-out casement window is ideal for architects, builders and homeowners who desire a full-featured window offering wide-open views, as the two side-by-sash unit does not have a center frame or rail to obstruct views when it is open. The new addition builds on the already-robust Premium Series product line that includes: double hung, crank-out casement, awning and sliding windows; and hinged, sliding, telescoping, and bi-fold patio doors. The push-out casement is available in standard sizes as large as 3 feet 6 inches by 7 feet, and singles, multi-wide units or French configurations. Matching transoms and pictures are available to complement operating windows.
Standard with a multi-point locking system that secures the sash in multiple locations for a tight seal, the push-out casement is simple to operate with a turn of a lever and an outward push. Specially designed friction hinges allow for adjustments after installation should tension need to be added to the hinge to help hold the sash in open positions. This unit’s simple hardware allows for low-profile interior wood stops, giving the window a sleek contemporary look. All of the hinges and locking hardware are made of highly corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
Weather Shield’s TriCore frame technology combines highly moisture-resistant materials, a fusion-welded sub frame, and thick, multi-chamber components to achieve new levels of energy efficiency and thermal performance. It is used on the new push out casement as well as the Premium Series’ crank-out casements, awnings and select picture windows.
Two screen options are available for the push-out casement: retractable and hinged screens. The retractable screen is a factory-installed system integrated into the window frame and is virtually undetectable when not in use. The screen slides easily across the window opening to a magnetic closure on the opposite side of the frame. It easily retracts using its spring coil system. The hinged screen is made from solid wood matched to the species of the window. It opens freely to allow homeowners to push open the window, and then closes again with the magnetic closure. The screen can be easily removed thanks to a convenient lift-off hinge.
The Premium Series features the widest offering of options with traditional architectural details such as a wood-covered jambliner on double hung units. Interiors are available in standard pine, Douglas fir, character alder, maple, oak, cherry and mahogany. They can be factory-finished in four stain finishes: Clear Satin, Fruitwood, Chestnut, Golden Oak; painted with white latex; or primed for finishing at the job site. To complement these finishes, hardware is available in white, tan, brushed nickel and rustic bronze.
The durable aluminum-clad exteriors are offered in 12 popular colors: White, Cameo, Tan, Desert Tan, Hartford Green, Craftsman Bronze, Adobe, Heritage Brown, Brick Red, Grey Matters, Obsidian and Jet Black. An additional expanded palette of 45 designer colors is offered as well. Weather Shield also has the technology to match any custom color and apply it to an order.
For added charm, homeowners can add grilles to the Premium Series. Available options are: Simulated Divided Lites (SDL), Grilles Between the Glass (GBG) or Perimeter wood grilles.
The Premium Series is available with energy-efficient glazing choices, such as Zo-e-shield 5, Zo-e-shield 5 Extreme, and Zo-e-shield 7.
