Marketair’s Pipe Prop, a rooftop adjustable piping support system for HVAC, plumbing, roofing and electrical applications, has received a Certificate of Listing from the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), Ontario, Calif.
Manufactured by JMB Industries LLC, Fort Worth, Texas, Pipe Prop’s APS-1, APS-2 and the USPP models now carry IAPMO’s Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) symbol and comply with IAPMO IGC 331-2016 Standard for Adjustable Pipe Support Systems. Marketair, an Edison, New Jersey-based supplier of specialized HVAC industry components and accessories, is Pipe Prop’s master representative agent for the U.S., except for Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
The IAPMO Certification is the second code approval success for the Pipe Prop after achieving two Notice of Acceptances (NOA) for building products approved in high velocity hurricane zones from Dept. of Regulatory and Economic Resources, Miami-Dade County, Fla.
Pipe Prop is an alternative to fabricated wood blocks rooftop pipe supports and is a Miami-Dade County approved hurricane-rated system. Pipe Prop’s APS-1, APS-2 and USPP for 1-1/2-inch, 2-1/2-inch and multiple pipes/sizes, respectively, are available at HVAC and plumbing wholesale distributors.
Each unit includes a UV-resistant polymer base, pipe saddle with nylon strap fastener(s) or self-locking straps, and an adhesive for installations on most flat roof types. The installer supplies the PVC pipe column that is field-cut to accommodate a code-mandated piping run pitch of one-inch every four feet. Pipe Prop has been third-party tested for more than 4,500 hours and can withstand wind loads up to 184-mph.
