At Unispace, safety has always been at the forefront of our priorities. As a global design organization, we are committed to improving our global safety performance each year and creating ideal work environments for all. This commitment was recently recognized with our EMEA team being awarded Silver at the RoSPA Health and Safety awards 2020 for our ongoing dedication to raising health and safety standards.
When the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe, we were able to quickly respond and add in additional steps to renew and refine our safety standards, ramping up our protocols and enforcing the highest performance of cleanliness and health. Thanks to these measures and meticulous planning, we were able to deliver projects on time and within budget while keeping the safety and health of our clients and teams at the forefront.
With our new “Safer Together” initiative, we are going beyond processes and procedures, emphasizing safety is fundamentally about people and our obligation to make sure they get back home to their loved ones as healthy and safely as they arrived to our workplaces. The culture of Unispace has always been one of openness and communication. We’re grateful to have had this robust community mindset already in place as we’ve navigated the past six months.
Communication Is Key
Talking and checking in with each other is a major piece of “Safer Together”. We ask all of our people to keep up with protocols; practice safety in their personal lives; and trust if there’s something that could be made safer, it will be noticed and brought up. It’s vital we instill and maintain trust to make sure everyone feels comfortable and most of all, safe.
Our goal with our “Safer Together” initiative is to develop a focus on safety that will have a profound impact on the way every single Unispace employee thinks about safety and how our actions impact others. By looking out for each other and making safety our highest priority, we aim to ensure the wellbeing of everyone onsite and in our studios.
Sorry Not Sorry: We’re Strict about Safety
The implementation of strict new protocols will all but guarantee all workers and visitors stay healthy. By increasing our focus on what works best in this ever-changing landscape and expanding our safety management team through a series of strategic hires, we have already seen a boost to our site capabilities, ensuring our clients’ projects continue unhindered, while providing peace of mind.
While our global team will be receiving additional health and safety training, our construction sites are already following updated best practices. These include daily pre-arrival temperature checks, staggered site arrival times, an abundance of personal protective equipment and social distancing protocol enforcement—all to maximize site hygiene. Daily deep cleaning provides further protection to everyone and allows employees to return home to their families with minimal concern.
It Starts with Us
We know safety begins with each of us, but we also know it doesn’t end there. The steps we put in place to guard ourselves and others will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 elsewhere. Not only do we aim to maintain productivity and keep projects on track by minimizing the risk of delays and setbacks due to an outbreak, we want to do our part to keep our larger community safe and help keep the economy moving forward.
All of us at Unispace know the best way to run a business is to put our people first.
We are all in this together, and we must remain vigilant in our efforts to minimize the spread of COVID and protect the most vulnerable of our population. I thank our teams all over the globe for their commitment to safety. We are Safer Together.
