Sapa announced an 18-month exclusive agreement with PPG Industries, providing Sapa with exclusive rights to administer PPG’s coatings warranty on completed aluminum products.
“This exclusive partnership gives Sapa the ability to offer its customers our full coatings warranty along with the benefits and assurance that we will stand behind our warranty to meet customers’ needs,” says Brian Knapp, Coil & Building Products director at PPG Industries. “Given our work with Sapa in the past, we have confidence in the quality of the aluminum extrusions and paint application process they produce for their customers.”
As part of this exclusive agreement, Sapa can now transfer PPG’s coatings warranty along with Sapa’s applicator warranty directly to its customers that have purchased coated aluminum products. PPG will warrant film integrity, chalk and color fade when properly applied to Sapa’s pre-treated aluminum products. The warranty extends for varying time periods according to treatments and paint type.
“We are excited about the warranty possibilities this unique partnership opportunity with PPG offers our customers,” says Scott Condreay, architectural engineering manager with Sapa’s North American Technical Center. “This partnership directly aligns with one of our core values, ‘Customer First.’ The ability to provide PPG’s coatings warranty direct to our customers enables us to provide PPG’s assurance behind the painted aluminum products we deliver.”
The exclusive joint warranty agreement began Sept. 10, 2015 and will run through March 31, 2017.
In an unrelated announcement, five of Sapa’s North America locations will join PPG’s Certified Applicator Program (CAP), including Gainesville, Ga.; Portland, Ore.; Yankton, S.D.; and two locations in Canada, Mississauga and Pointe Claire. Each of these locations has or is in the process of satisfying the criteria to be on the AAMA Verified Component List. Additionally, St. Augustine, Fla., will be part of the Joint Warranty Program, but is not entering PPG’s CAP.
