Sightlines has announced that it will host Insights Summit ’17, its member conference for higher education executives on Nov. 13-15, 2017, at the Charleston Marriott in Charleston, S.C.
Sightlines’ Insights Summit ’17: Charting a New Course in Facilities is an educational and networking event designed to strengthen the lines of communication between key decision makers in the finance and facilities departments at North American colleges and universities. The bi-annual event draws from Sightlines’ membership base of more than 350 academic institutions across the U.S. and Canada.
“Our Insights Summit is more than a campus facilities conference, it’s an extension of a Sightlines membership and is designed to facilitate collaboration, networking, and opportunities for executives to share personal experiences of their facilities management challenges and successes,” said Mark Schiff, president of Sightlines. “The inaugural Insights Summit was held in 2015 and we received feedback to host these exclusive events on a regular basis.”
The agenda for the event features:
- A general session to debut the findings of “State of Facilities in Higher Education for 2017” – Sightlines’ annual report that highlights trends and best practices in facilities management
- Breakout sessions to detail the annual report data, tailored to specific institution types
- Case study presentations from college executives who have experienced success with navigating various campus facilities challenges
- Working sessions that provide tools for organizational communication and data analysis
- Professional networking opportunities
Marc Kushner, co-founder and chief executive officer of Architizer, will serve as one of the keynote speakers for the conference. Kushner is a designer and pioneer in the digital media industry, with expertise on topics surrounding the intersection of architecture and digital media. He has taught at Columbia University and is the author of The Future of Architecture in 100 Buildings.
A second keynote speaker at the event will be Alan Manning, executive vice president at Planetree Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to pioneering methods for personalizing, humanizing and demystifying the healthcare experience. Manning is a former Sightlines employee who changed careers after the tragic loss of his daughter, Katie, at just six months old. Manning now devotes his time and energy to supporting the people who commit their lives to caring for the sick while also addressing the gaps that still exist in our healthcare systems.
Sightlines has also confirmed that the gala dinner for conference attendees will be hosted aboard the USS Yorktown, one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the U.S. Navy.
