Simpson Strong-Tie Supports Relief Efforts After Hurricane Dorian

Simpson Strong-Tie has donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to assist relief efforts in the Bahamas and southeastern U.S. after Hurricane Dorian struck earlier this month.

Hurricane Dorian was the first major hurricane of the 2019 season in the Atlantic, and is on record as the most powerful tropical cyclone ever to hit the Bahamas. Many structures in the Bahamas were destroyed or swept out to sea, leaving approximately 70,000 people homeless throughout the islands.

At least 53 people died from the hurricane, and over a thousand people have been reported missing in the Bahamas. Property damage is estimated at $7 billion.

“The immense path that Hurricane Dorian took throughout the Bahamas, alongside parts of the southeastern U.S., resulted in massive numbers of people being affected,” says Simpson Strong-Tie COO Ricardo Arevalo. “A hurricane of this magnitude is devastating, and we hope all the survivors who went through it are able to get the relief they need to recover.”
