Viega LLC hosted a National Manufacturing Day event, attended by more than 200 community members, most of which were students, at its manufacturing campus in McPherson, Kan.
The event featured tours of both manufacturing facilities, including its MegaPress production facility, along with a career fair. It included a visit from Mayor Thomas A. Brown, as well as other city officials who signed a proclamation to make October officially manufacturing month in McPherson County.
“Viega is proud to be a part of the manufacturing industry in Kansas and to have the opportunity to open its doors to the local community,” says Robert Boots, COO, Viega LLC. “It was exciting for us to see such a growth in community interest, and we would like to thank everyone who spent their day with us learning about and celebrating the importance of modern manufacturing in this region.”
At the McPherson campus, Viega produces its MegaPress carbon steel fittings for joining Schedule 5 to Schedule 40 black iron pipe as well as the Viega PureFlow system, which includes Viega PureFlow PEX tubing, Viega PureFlow Press fittings and Viega ProRadiant product lines. The Viega ManaBloc homerun water distribution system and the Viega-assembled panels for radiant heating and cooling are also produced in McPherson.
This was the fourth year Viega hosted a National Manufacturing Day event. Over the years, the company has welcomed hundreds of area job seekers, students, officials and community members to its McPherson campus.
Viega launched its Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program in January 2017, and provides paid positions working in plastics, metals, machining or maintenance divisions through which apprentices will be able to earn a three-year associate’s degree.
