WAC Lighting Assists Its Community After Sandy

Following its “Responsible Lighting” mantra, WAC Lighting is working with local organizations to provide relief to help victims of Superstorm Sandy in the New York metropolitan area.

“We have established a grassroots program to encourage industry friends and employees to help out the communities impacted by this disaster,” explains WAC Lighting President Shelley Wald. “Many of the lives of our employees, customers and specifiers have been affected dramatically and we are working vigorously to get them back on their feet.”

WAC is helping to generate contributions with local organizations, such as IPRelief (helping “The Young Families of Island Park Hurricane Relief”) that target specific areas in need that are not necessarily receiving enough immediate support.

WAC employees are working to create and deliver a multitude of children’s gifts for the Toys for Tots program, which is operated by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to collect new, unwrapped toys for children in need. The toys are distributed to less fortunate children in the community, especially those affected by the disaster.

In addition, WAC Lighting is offering thousands of lighting fixtures as assistance to qualified 501(c)(3) charities that are helping people rebuild.

“Some of our employees are delivering food, blankets and household items to specific areas in need, especially on Long Island,” Wald adds. “Our company is proud to help our neighbors and friends in the surrounding areas.”
