Georgia-Pacific Professional<\/a> has announced Green Seal<\/a> certification of a selection of the company\u2019s tissue, towel and napkin products. This designation by Green Seal, a third-party sustainability certification organization, is another building block in Georgia-Pacific Professional\u2019s offering of sustainable products.<\/p>\n The facilities that manufacture Georgia-Pacific Professional\u2019s Green Seal certified products under the GS-1 standard underwent a rigorous independent review as part of the participation in the program. According to Green Seal, the GS-1 standard addresses the primary life-cycle issues for sanitary paper products from product performance, raw materials, manufacturing, packaging and use. Elements of the evaluation included fiber sources and chemical use in the manufacturing process; product performance; energy and water consumption; air, wastewater, and solid waste reporting; and packaging content and efficiency.<\/p>\n \u201cGreen Seal certification highlights our long-term commitment to sustainability, stewardship and meeting the demands of the marketplace,\u201d says John Mulcahy, vice president, sustainability, for Georgia-Pacific Professional. \u201cWe were a pioneer in using recycled fiber to make products, and we continue to be a leading provider of waste reducing solutions.
