{"id":20705,"date":"2015-06-02T08:00:55","date_gmt":"2015-06-02T12:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/retrofitmagazine.com\/?p=20705"},"modified":"2015-06-01T09:21:12","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T13:21:12","slug":"lunera-files-suit-to-protect-intellectual-property-of-its-plug-and-play-led-lamps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/retrofitmagazine.com\/lunera-files-suit-to-protect-intellectual-property-of-its-plug-and-play-led-lamps\/","title":{"rendered":"Lunera Files Suit to Protect Intellectual Property of Its Plug-and-Play LED Lamps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lunera.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lunera Lighting Inc.<\/a> announced that the company has filed suit in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysd.uscourts.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Southern District of New York (SDNY)<\/a> against <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eiko.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">EiKO Global LLC<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keystoneballast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keystone Technologies Inc.<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxlite.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maxlite Inc.<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pqlighting.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Premium Quality Lighting Inc.<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rvlti.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Revolution Lighting Technologies Inc.<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.satco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">SATCO Products Inc.<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.topaz-usa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Topaz Lighting Corp.<\/a> who are currently selling &#8220;knock-off&#8221; versions of Lunera&#8217;s Helen Lamp; the first plug-and-play LED replacement lamp for a 4-pin Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL), an innovative product designed and invented by Lunera.<\/p>\n<p>Lunera is seeking an injunction barring the sale of the &#8220;knock-off&#8221; product in the U.S. &#8220;It has come to our attention that multiple companies have blatantly copied our Helen Lamp product,&#8221; says Doug Schendt, Lunera CEO. &#8220;Lunera pioneered the category of ballast driven CFL retrofit lamps; we will vigorously defend our intellectual property against infringement,&#8221; Schendt adds.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Lunera has noted that several of the companies currently marketing the &#8220;knock-off&#8221; product in the U.S. are claiming that their products are UL Listed. On Lunera&#8217;s request, UL has opened an investigation into potential misrepresentation of the &#8220;knock-off&#8221; lamps&#8217; safety certification.<\/p>\n<p>The Helen Lamp was introduced in 2013, it has been recognized by the press and commercial lighting trade as a significant market differentiator to accelerate greater adoption of LED lighting.
