WholeTrees Architecture & Structures provides round-timber frame structures for commercial and residential environments.

WholeTrees Architecture & Structures, Madison, Wis., provides round-timber frame structures for commercial and residential environments. Round-timbers are a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to steel, concrete and other heavy timber products, based on research conducted by the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Forest Products Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service. Construction, renovation and demolition derived wastes, such as those generated by the production of steel and milled lumber, account for nearly 60 percent of U.S. solid waste generation, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Round-timber mitigates this waste.

What is small diameter round-timber?

WholeTrees uses whole diameter tree trunks (4 inches to 20 inches) and unwanted branched timbers that would otherwise be removed from routine forest thinning (such as suppressed, fallen, diseased, invasive or wind-bent trees) to create structural solutions for commercial and residential buildings.
