{"id":85340,"date":"2022-12-20T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/retrofitmagazine.com\/?p=85340"},"modified":"2023-01-03T10:09:50","modified_gmt":"2023-01-03T15:09:50","slug":"ies-will-assume-management-of-lighting-certified-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/retrofitmagazine.com\/ies-will-assume-management-of-lighting-certified-program\/","title":{"rendered":"IES Will Assume Management of Lighting Certified Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ies.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) <\/a>has formalized an agreement with the <a href=\"http:\/\/ies.informz.net\/z\/cjUucD9taT0zODAzODAzJnA9MSZ1PTM3NzkzODQ5MyZsaT0zODQzMTk0Ng\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP)<\/a> to assume management of its <a href=\"http:\/\/ies.informz.net\/z\/cjUucD9taT0zODAzODAzJnA9MSZ1PTM3NzkzODQ5MyZsaT0zODQzMTk0Ng\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lighting Certified (LC)<\/a> examination and recertification programs, effective Jan. 1, 2023. The two organizations share a rich history following the IES\u2019s in-kind establishment of the Technical Knowledge Exam (TKE), as well as the Society\u2019s annual LC study group and ongoing delivery of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) required for prospective and renewing individuals.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IES mission to \u201cimprove the lighted environment by bringing together those with lighting knowledge into actions that benefit the public,\u201d combined with the longstanding relationship between the two organizations, offers a unique opportunity to raise awareness of the exam and its importance to the industry and to implement a process of continuous quality improvement to ensure the exam remains accessible, relevant and respected.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the IES will provide strategic, operational, financial and administrative support to the LC program, the NCQLP will continue to maintain its separate 501(c)(3) status, bylaws and its own Board of Directors. The organizations will work to establish liaisons between their respective Boards, and the IES executive sirector, Colleen Harper, will now serve as the NCQLP executive director. The IES will continue to host the LC Study Group; however, to eliminate any conflicts of interest it will now be under the IES Events umbrella and study group materials will be developed solely by third-party instructors.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNCQLP and the Lighting Certificate Program are fundamental to the lighting industry and lighting practitioners,\u201d states Frank Agraz, IES board president. \u201cI\u2019m so proud that the IES now has an opportunity to support and strengthen the program, to enhance its branding and, ultimately, ensure its sustainability long into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bernie Erickson, NCQLP board president shares: \u201cFor over 30 years, the NCQLP has been providing lighting practitioners the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and experience.
