C.R. Laurence welcomed the Stairbuilders and Manufacturers Association (SMA) for a one-day workshop at its ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles. The stair industry is seeing an increase in demand for glass and stainless steel railing systems. The central focus of the workshop was to address this development and share knowledge to help push the industry forward.
The SMA provides valuable resources and opportunities to its members that support the growth of the stair industry. As a supplier of architectural railing systems, C.R. Laurence was a natural fit to host its West Coast Regional Workshop.
“C.R. Laurence was able to provide the technical knowledge and insight needed to better understand the expanding railing segment in both commercial and residential stair applications,” says David Cooper, SMA executive director. “These events provide unilateral benefits for all those involved, including members, potential members and host member companies.”
The workshop featured a tour of C.R. Laurence’s manufacturing facilities, as well as a series of educational presentations and hands-on demonstrations. Topics covered included railing installation best practices, application considerations, trends in design and function, and building code compliance.
“Our railing systems are engineered to meet code requirements and enhance the safety and overall aesthetics of stair installations,” says Chris Hanstad, vice president of Architectural Sales at C.R. Laurence. “Hosting the SMA workshop is an example of our continued commitment towards supporting the growth of the glazing industry.”
