Carrier announces its Côr thermostat has been certified to comply with the latest California Energy Code Title 24 as an Occupant Controlled Smart Thermostat (OCST) by the California Energy Commission. Carrier is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
A Title 24-compliant OCST must meet a number of detailed specifications intended to receive and automatically respond to demand response signals through a messaging protocol, such as Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) 2.0, from utility providers.
According to the California Energy Commission (CEC), the Energy Commission’s energy efficiency standards have saved California energy customers over $75 billion in reduced electricity bills since the 1970s.
This certification marks another step for the Côr thermostat as it recently was certified to be compliant with the OpenADR standard.
