Cabinotch Innovative Solutions, a fabricator of custom cabinet boxes for cabinetmakers, has held a celebration to mark the opening of its West Coast manufacturing facility.
The event was attended by existing and prospective Cabinotch customers and West Coast wood industry dignitaries, with an appearance by Oregon Governor Kate Brown to commemorate the opening of the new plant.
According to Cabinotch Managing Director Mike Lee, “The demand for Cabinotch boxes among West Coast cabinetmakers has increased over the past few years. Our Salem location is near Oregon-based hardwood plywood resources, which enables us to serve customers throughout the region.”
Cabinotch’s product lines are the cabinet box systems that sit behind the door or drawer fronts, produced to tight tolerances with a flexible sizing system of 1/64-inch increments. With software provided by Cabinotch, a shop owner can draw a kitchen, render a 3D image and upload that image for production at the Salem Cabinotch facility in a matter of minutes.
After the design is uploaded, Cabinotch processes the image for production on CNC equipment, where parts are cut from sheet stock and lumber; nested in a way that maximizes yield and the use of natural resources. As Cabinotch has invested in precision/ high-volume equipment, the company can produce components with a fraction of the labor input. Orders typically deliver within seven days. In most cases, this is faster than the shop owner can produce the parts internally. Additionally, wood waste is minimal, and any waste produced is compressed and shipped to facilities where it is used to generate energy to produce decorative panels.
The Salem plant is the company’s second, joining its flagship facility in Owensboro, Ky.
Headquartered in Greensboro, N.C.;, Cabinotch Innovative Solutions is a producer of American-made, face-framed, and full-access cabinet boxes. What began as an idea by a small cabinet manufacturer has become a multi-million-dollar company staffed by more than 30 employee-owners and is growing at a rate of more than 50 percent per year.
