The Power Up Energy Expo takes place each fall, attracting hundreds of professionals from around the world. The Expo is designed to promote collaborative partnerships and connect small and large companies with representatives of the Air Force, Navy, Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Energy. The event this year takes place Nov. 14-16, at the Soundside Club, Hurlburt Field, Ft Walton Beach, Fla. The theme is Energy Resiliency in a Changing Environment.
“When the Air Force introduced its Air Force Energy Flight Plan, signed in January of 2018, it really provided a framework with objectives and targets to reduce energy demands and sustain the military mission through improved energy security,” says Dave Robau, Gulf Coast Energy Network founder and executive director. “The elements of the plan complement this year’s Power Up theme perfectly.”
“This Plan, along with our recent policies, codifies the importance energy resiliency has to the Air Force mission and identifies how we are going to move forward,” says Miranda Ballentine, assistant secretary of the Air Force for installations, environment and energy. “We need to take a holistic approach to energy projects to provide resilient, cost-effective, cleaner energy solutions to ensure we can continue to operate when our energy supplies are interrupted,” she adds.
The Expo is sponsored by the Gulf Coast Energy Network, a Florida-based not-for-profit that has been hosting technical conferences, workshops, and industry trade shows since 2010 to provide continuing education and networking opportunities to energy and sustainability professionals.
“Energy resiliency is an increasingly vital topic that touches on virtually every aspect of the energy industry,” says Ed Armstrong, media relations, Gulf Coast Energy Network. “Given the amount of interest in this topic, we expect that Power Up 2018 will sell out and we urge attendees to register early,” he adds.
“As an industry leader in the energy sector, Siemens is always represented at Power Up” says Matt Ridley, senior account executive with Siemens Building Technologies Office.
Power Up Energy Expo is a gathering open to government/military personnel, private sector companies, NGOs, trade associations, university staff, and students in related disciplines. Due to its location on an Air Force base, advanced registration is required at least three days prior to the event.
