Solatube International Inc. has introduced its InfraReduction technology to its commercial product line.
This technology uses a multilayered film with an integrated low-emissive coating on the inside of its Spectralight Infinity coating and in-dome reflectors. It’s a proprietary process which extracts infrared wavelengths on the first light bounce before they can be transferred through the tube, therefore eliminating them before they enter the building.
InfraReduction Technology:
- Eliminates infrared wavelengths from 950-2500nm
- Has a solar heat gain coefficient as low as 0.19 with nominal impact on visible transmittance
- Delivers unparalleled transfer of natural light, with minimum heat gain
- Is ideal for hot climates, where it reduces cooling loads on HVAC systems
Solatube International invented TDDs which harvest and distribute daylight in commercial buildings and homes. Solatube Daylighting Systems are installed as part of energy-saving and sustainability efforts in commercial and residential spaces in over 122 countries.
Using patented technology, a Solatube Daylighting System harvests daylight at the rooftop, transfers it down a reflective tube (which bends up to 90 degrees and can be up to 70 feet or more long) and distributes it into an interior space through a diffuser at the ceiling.
The first Solatube product was sold in 1991 and well over 3 million have been sold worldwide to date.
