Roofers’ Advantage Products LLC (RAP) has been granted its third patent in the line of patents titled, “Layout Starter and Field Shingle for Sloped Asphalt Roofing”. After its creation in 2013, RAP has grown its IP Portfolio, with several patented and patent pending roofing products.
These recent patents grant layout marks placed on starter shingles, starter rolls, and the front of back of field shingles. It is notable, that such marks placed on shingles eliminates the use of a tape measure, simplifies the roofing process and ensures uniformity while reducing the number of tools required that need to be brought up to the roof. In general, the starter shingle or starter roll becomes the tape measure and marks on the front or back of shingles aid in the cutting of books and shingle placement, while providing for patented nail placement.
“As roofers by trade, we are well aware of the day to day needs of roofers in the field,” says RAP Inventor Benjamin Folkersen. “When we approach a contract, we look at ways to make the work easier for the men and women doing the work. I would like to invite you to look at our video, which has been produced without a shingle manufacturer in place, you’ll get the idea”.
“These ideas come from collaborating with my twenty eight year old son who runs our largest crew and after a decade in the trenches we have become a tight team,” says RAP Manager and Founder Jon Folkersen. “After recently attending our first IRE we have been bolstered by the positive response from the shingle manufacturing community.”
RAP is seeking a strategic alliance with one or several shingle manufacturers who are looking for a line of asphalt shingles. Ben goes on to say, “Once in a generation, a market changing invention comes from the field, and that time is now”.
