DaBella is one of the fastest growing home improvement companies in the U.S. For this company, the key to success is commitment to amazing service. To attract and retain people dedicated to its clients’ happiness, a great workspace was essential. The firm wanted to create a culture that got people from all departments to interact. DaBella’s leaders wanted the whole company to be on the same floor. They also wanted to own their building. Easier said than done.
The only space that ticked all their boxes was a rundown, former call center. The next challenge was building it out in time to get out of their current lease. Four different contractors couldn’t make the timelines work. Then DaBella talked to the local DIRTT partner in Portland, Ore. Working together, they cut the schedule by 60 percent. In only 11 days, they completed half of the construction. They installed power, data and 11-foot walls during the Christmas holiday, giving DaBella a seamless pivot into its new office.
Passive Optical Networks, or PON, freed up to 90 percent of the real estate typically dedicated to a building’s network. As a result, DeBella was able to save energy while getting unlimited bandwidth to future-proof its space.
The PON structure is a benefit to the building. Consider the following:
- The call center can be grown by 75 to 100 people and will have plenty of bandwidth.
- It’s easy to add another data drop.
- Within four days, 300 stations were ready for work.
- The PON server room features two small switch panels that connect the entire building.
According to DaBella, every day that the marketing department wasn’t working meant $500,000 in lost revenue. So getting the job done three months earlier meant money in DaBank.
