American Standard Faucets Win Red Dot Award

The Edgewater collection of pull-down kitchen and bar faucets from American Standard was recognized with the Red Dot Award. Participants from 57 nations registered more than 5,200 products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016. The international Red Dot jury selects only those choice products that differentiate themselves through their aesthetic quality, durability, functionality and emotional connection to the end user.

An intriguing blend of clean, geometric styling and impressive functionality, the Edgewater faucet assortment is equipped to help the user efficiently manage common kitchen tasks.

These kitchen sink faucets offer an intuitive four-function sprayer, plus pause feature, that put the user in full control. The American Standard exclusive SelectFlo patented spray technology is showcased in this line, allowing users to simply toggle down into spray mode and rotate the selection dial to the desired spray pattern.

Edgewater faucets offer two additional brand-exclusive features in the docking system: Re-Trax, which provides smooth operation and spray head retraction; and Dock-Tite, the magnetic mechanism that keeps the pull-down spray head tightly secured to the spout. In addition, the two-part design of each faucet handle allows only the lever portion to move, maintaining its clean design lines while providing smooth operation.

“It is a true honor to receive this recognition from such a distinguished and respected program as Red Dot. Receipt of this award makes a powerful statement about the design aesthetics, innovation and craftsmanship that have long been a hallmark of American Standard throughout our 140-year history,” says Steven Delarge, CEO and president of LIXIL Water Technology Americas, the global business unit under which American Standard operates. “The product design team at American Standard is tremendously talented, and we are all very proud of this well-deserved designation of excellence for the Edgewater faucet collection.”

The 41 international design experts on the independent judging panel assessed each entry strictly and fairly, live and on site, according to criteria such as degree of innovation, formal quality, functionality and ecological compatibility. Professor Peter Zec, founder and president of the Red Dot Award, states, “With their performances, the Red Dot winners not only demonstrated an extraordinary design quality, but they also showed that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions.”
