ASSA ABLOY Electronic Security Hardware Wins Govies Government Security Award

The ASSA ABLOY Electronic Security Hardware Securitron M680E Magnalock with EcoMag Technology was awarded the Platinum Govies Government Security Award at ISC West 2018. Sponsored by Security Today and GovSec, The Govies honor government security products. The Securitron M680E EcoMag was awarded a Platinum Govies Government Security Award in the Lock and Locking Systems category.

The magnalock series has an increased holding strength of 1,200 pounds, and an average power draw as low as 60mA at 24V, allowing for use of smaller backup batteries and longer wire runs of thinner wire. This change in power represents a total reduced energy consumption of 80 percent over the previous Securitron M680 series.

“We’re always proud of our work on sustainable products, and we’re honored to have our energy efficient product win a Govies award,” says David Corbin, director of access control accessories, ASSA ABLOY. “At ASSA ABLOY, sustainability is an important initiative and it’s an honor to have our efforts recognized for their energy efficiency and innovations.”

The Govies are coordinated by the publication Security Today. Using a panel of independent judges from the security industry, Security Today named winners using a criterion including Features Innovation, User Friendliness, Interoperability, Quality, Design, Market Opportunity, Impact in the Security Industry, Technical Advances and Scalability.

“Winning a Govies Government Security Award is a notable recognition,” says Ralph C. Jensen, editor-in-chief, GovSec and Security Today magazines and securitytoday.com. “The government relies on advancements in technology from the private sector, and the security industry, specifically those recognized in The Govies, have proven their products and solutions meet those requirements and demands.”
