ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions is expanding and diversifying its ever-growing Innovation Fleet of vehicles by introducing the Mobile Installation Training Showroom: the first vehicle in the fleet to offer hands-on, immersive installation training of the products and solutions offered by ASSA ABLOY Group brands.
The new vehicle expands training opportunities for the contractors, carpenters, locksmiths, installers, security integrators and other security industry professionals who choose ASSA ABLOY as a partner in protecting the places and people that matter most.
The full-sized, 53-foot tractor-trailer is customized to allow both sides of the trailer to expand out when parked. This allows for the extensive ASSA ABLOY product offerings—doors, frames, electronic access control and keying stations—to be presented within the vehicle. The ASSA ABLOY Americas University curricula allows students to learn and practice proper installation techniques for products that address the security, life-safety, convenience and aesthetic needs at any facility.
“The ability to drive this vehicle across the country and connect with the businesses and people who install and use our products is amazing because you don’t lose any of the impact of a full training environment,” says Sean McGrath, vice president of Marketing & Business Development, ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions. “When you walk into the vehicle you walk into a fully functioning classroom where you will be actively working on the actual products we offer. The end result is that after one day of training, those who provide door security solutions are more experienced and knowledgeable in the solutions they offer.”
Examples of the training courses offered include:
Hardware Essentials: Product Installation and Servicing: Students learn about the proper installation and servicing of cylindrical and mortise locks, exit devices, door closers, FEMA Tornado Multi Point lock and FEMA Tornado exit device.
Electronic Opening Solutions: Designed for technicians seeking a greater understanding of basic low-voltage circuits, electromechanical hardware and ASSA ABLOY access control solutions.
Low-Energy Auto Operator Installation: Students are introduced to the common applications of door operators including features, benefits, product applications and adjustments.
The showroom includes products from Adams Rite, Baron, Ceco Door, Corbin Russwin, Curries, Frameworks, HES, Medeco, Norton, Rixson, Sargent, Securitron, and Yale. Also included are ASSA ABLOY Wood Doors’ Graham and Maiman products, as well as the Markar, McKinney, Pemko and Rockwood products from ASSA ABLOY Architectural Door Accessories.
The Mobile Installation Training Showroom joins the Innovation Fleet’s six full-size recreational vehicles—two dedicated to decorative doors and hardware, one focused on access control, and three highlighting our solutions for healthcare and education facilities. A mid-sized Metropolitan Solutions Showroom, which is designed to bring door security solutions to customers in urban environments, also recently launched. Rounding out the program is the ASSA ABLOY Openings Studio showroom, an upgraded smart car highlighting the benefits of the Openings Studio Building Information Modeling software and PRO-TECH project management software.
All vehicles in the fleet, including the Mobile Installation Training Showroom, are ready and available to stop at facilities nationwide. For more information or to schedule an event, e-mail or find your local Door Security Solutions representative by clicking on Sales Support.
For those seeking further specialization in door security solutions, there are also multiple educational offerings at ASSA ABLOY Americas University (AAAU). During the past decade, AAAU has educated thousands of students with instructor-led and online courses. These courses introduce and extend knowledge about the components of a door opening, and the opening as a whole.
