CertainTeed Releases EPDs and HPDs for Its Ceiling Products

CertainTeed‘s Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Health Product Declarations (HPDs) demonstrate that transparency is at the core of its businesses. As a continuation of that principal, CertainTeed’s ceilings business announces third party verified EPDs for its Ecophon products.

“CertainTeed Ceilings is committed to sustainable and responsible design,” says Robert Marshall, marketing technical services manager for CertainTeed’s ceilings business. “Our third party verified EPDs and HPDs advance the role our products can play in innovative building design and construction by providing proven impact on health in offices, schools and health care facilities.”

The international certification company DNV GL certified the EPDs affirming the true sustainability and health benefits of the following Ecophon product families: Ecophon Advantage, Ecophon Gedina, Ecophon Solo, Ecophon Focus and Ecophon Hygiene (which includes nine different product variations).

The EPD describes the environmental impact of a single unit of an acoustic ceiling panel, the intended use of which is to increase sound absorption in a room to create a better indoor environment. Each environmental declaration will also allow the respective Ecophon ceiling panels to contribute toward specific point calculations in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building projects.

Along with third party verification from DNV GL, the Ecophon products are certified compliant for VOC emissions per the California Department of Public Health. Additionally, Ecophon Hygiene products satisfy USDA/FSIS sanitary guidelines for food-processing areas and are approved for use in federally registered Canadian food establishments.
