Clopay Corporation, a provider of closure products for commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and retail applications, hosted its Bricks ’n’ Lagers event that took place at the 2023 AIA Conference on Architecture (A’23) in San Francisco.
Michael Poris, the winning architect and a founding partner of McIntosh Poris Architects, accepted a LEGO brick replica of his winning project on February 14. The replica, created by LEGO brick artist Benjamin Radell, is modeled after a McIntosh Poris-designed Midcentury Modern-inspired 4,700-square-foot residence in West Bloomfield, Michigan, which was completed in January 2023. Radell presented the prize to Poris in front of the home.
“It was fun participating in Clopay’s Bricks ‘n’ Lagers event at the 2023 AIA Convention,” said Poris. “Legos are a memorable part of my childhood, so it was really rewarding to see my work represented in a Lego model.”
“Bricks ’n’ Lagers was a total hit and overwhelmingly successful at bringing creatives like Michael Poris to our booth at A’23,” said Alexis Dabdoub, Clopay Corporation architectural product representative. “It was a great opportunity to talk with architects and designers about our overhead doors and closure products and how they fit into modern design.”
About Bricks ’n’ Lagers
Clopay Corporation hosted the Bricks ’n’ Lagers contest at its A’23 booth last June. The event encouraged architects and other visitors to tap into their childlike wonder by playing with the Architecture series of LEGO bricks during a happy hour. As part of the activities, participants had a chance to win a LEGO brick replica of one of their own architectural projects to be recreated by Radell. Poris was announced the winner in August 2023, after which project details were handed over to Radell to begin designing the replica.
