The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY) is proud to announce the inauguration of Alexandria Davis, IIDA, as chapter president for the 2023-24 term. Davis, who serves as a designer and senior associate for IA Interior Architects, has been an active member of the chapter since moving to New York City in 2017. She succeeds Sarah Levine, who served as president for the 2022-23 term, and will mentor Christin Weaver, who was elected as president for 2024-25 term.
IIDA NY unites design professionals throughout New York State, providing networking opportunities, educational events, and charitable initiatives for members. The Chapter strives to celebrate design, encourage collaboration, share knowledge and advocate for the interior design community. As Chapter President, Davis hopes to evolve IIDA NY’s efforts within education and engagement on all fronts, investigating how to better sustain the industry, its communities, and industry professionals. She also aims to engage education, communication, and inclusivity more holistically.
“The opportunity to lead IIDA NY is an honor,” says Davis. “I see a unique opportunity at this point in history to plant seeds for the future that engage our industry in a more comprehensive and inclusive way. My goal is to foster a community where we can learn from one another and support each other in unexpected and phenomenal ways.”
Davis brings a wealth of experience in commercial interior design to her role, with an emphasis on workplace strategies. She previously served as co-vice president of Sponsorships prior to her serving as president-elect within the past calendar year of the chapter, demonstrating a commitment to growth and evolution within IIDA NY.
“I’m excited to see where Alexandria will take the chapter,” says Levine. “Her vision for the future of IIDA NY, focusing on wellness, education, and inclusivity, aligns perfectly with our mission. Under her leadership, I anticipate positive steps toward change for the interior design community as a whole.”
While utilizing her term to focus on community and inclusivity, Davis also strives to continue building on the work accomplished by past presidents, executive board members, and committee chairs to strengthen the New York chapter moving forward. This includes nurturing the next generation of designers and industry professionals, cultivating their passion for interior design and inspiring them to be curious and become successful leaders themselves.
