LBM Journal, a media company for lumberyards and building material dealers in the nation, has launched LBMJOBS.com, an industry job search tool. LBMJOBS.com aims to connect employers in the lumber/building material (LBM) industry with qualified candidates at the free online job board at LBMJOBS.com.
“We saw the need to connect companies in our industry that had job openings with qualified candidates, so we created LBMJOBS.com,” says Rick Schumacher, publisher and editor of LBM Journal. “Companies post a job listing and interested candidates apply directly to the company. The listings stay on the site for 45 days unless the company marks the job as filled or deletes their posting. It’s that simple.”
National results from a June 2015 survey conducted by LBM Journal of its readers indicates a strong need for job support assistance in the LBM industry. More than 65 percent of respondents (comprising lumberyards/building materials dealers and specialty dealers/distributors) reported that it was “difficult to extremely difficult” to find qualified candidates for open positions. The same survey participants indicated they were having the hardest time filling positions for drivers (53.8 percent), inside sales (49 percent) and outside sales (48.3 percent).
“LBMJOBS.com was in the development process when we conducted this survey,” says Schumacher. “The results of the research clearly identified the need for assistance on this issue in our industry and reinforced our decision to launch the service. We know we’re on the right track because we already have more than 50 online job postings.”
At LBMJOBS.com LBM dealers, distributors and product manufacturers can post an unlimited amount of jobs for free as standard listings in 11 different categories, including Credit, Delivery Driver, General Yard Worker, GM/Store Manager, Inside Sales, Marketing, Millwork, Operations, Outside Sales, Truss Assembler and Window/Door Shop. Jobs are also referenced as Freelance, Full-Time, Internship, Part-Time and Temporary.
“Now a millwork specialist, salesperson or truck driver can visit the LBMJOBS.com site to find a job in our industry,” says Schumacher. “We stepped in to start LBMJOBS.com because we saw a need in our industry and hope we can make a difference. This is just one way our team at LBM Journal is working to support the construction supply industry.”
There are no charges to job seekers or employers posting standard listings on LBMJOBS.com. Those companies looking to enhance their postings can do so with a featured listing for $99. The featured listing provides placement of the job posting above the standard listings and includes a highlighted background. Recruiting firms can also use the LBMJOBS.com service, with standard listings costing $99 each and featured listings costing $199 each.
Companies needing assistance with filling executive-level positions can use LBMJOBS.com to arrange confidential consultations through The Misura Group, an executive recruiting firm focused specifically on the LBM industry.
To give more exposure to job postings, LBMJOBS.com is promoted in the print and digital issues of LBM Journal magazine, on LBMJournal.com, in LBM Alert and LBM Product & Services Showcase e-newsletters. LBM Journal Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook pages also provide the free industry service.
